Ghost Sounds or My Subjective Comments

I am starting to sound like a NIN fanboy. I have been listening to the Ghost I-IV. I really dig it. I am sure the business model and the way it was released allowed it to be. No big record company would get behind a 36 track instrumental album.

I want to be clear. It would make for some excellent late night in a darken room listening of on the headphones before bed.

But also it good to listen while at the PC or while working around the office or your home, etc. I mentioned the above because I don’t want to give the impression that it is the industrial version of Muzak. Don’t get me wrong like most good music the more attention to the better it is. But it is also a good trait to be a good listen when you are partial distracted. Making you move ith it without knowing it or requiring you to focus on it is a good thing also. It is just good to listen to while a trapped in the drab moments of daily life that still require your attention. I may have had to work on a boring spread sheet there was a good sound track.

A intent listening is worth it. NIN albums have always been tight albums rather than a collection of single or unrelated songs. If you love a song you most likely will love the whole album and if you hate it… The 9 free tracks will definitely let you know how you are going to feel about it. This music has even tighter cohesion. Tracks will pass without you know it could be a single, all be it long, track. The with anonymity or only being name in grouped numbers makes it seem even more like one piece of music. It is like a symphony in that way.

I like the contrast of electronic textures and more traditional guitar sounds and how it builds from quiet ambeiant parts build to gritty driving section and then falling again with out being jarring. It is interesting music.

The problem with reviews no matter what we like to think they are still somewhat subjective. But I have no problem sharing my positive opinions of someone I think is doing it the right way.
