“As described in the left side of this page, the VST Preset Generator (VPG) is a simple tool to create preset file for VST instrument and effects. Generally, VST plug-ins have a lot of parameters and the preset file contains values of them to specify sounds or effects. From this statement, the VPG writes preset files (fxp for program patch or fxb for bank patch) with randomized values.
The VPG is a tool for lazy or curious sound designers, who want to experiment random theory with their VSTs.
VST Preset Generator is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.
What VPG can do:
*create totally randomized file;
*create semi-randomly file, specifying the range of random values;
*help you to find new sound for your VST instrument of effect;
*waste your time, trying to help the author of this software ;-)”

de la Mancha has added another plugin to a fine collection. It is Basic a VST synth inspired by the Commodore 64. If if like that SID chip sound or just get misty when it comes to the early days of personal computing you should give it a try.
The look of an gadget real or virtual I have always felt matters. How it sounds is of course the most important thing. But It can be inspirational or just more fun at the leastif it is good looking. So, I hope they are at least fun I am not sure my Photoshop skills are up to inspirational. You can find 4 sets zipped up here.

KVR is have there annual Developer Challenge. The are 41 enteries and you can start voting Sept. 17th. Some of them look quite interesting you should check it out. It is a good idea to encourage and reward developers.

odosynths new vst synth Double Six is pretty cool. It is an fm synth with, as the name implies, 6 operators. It seems easy to use. I find it tricky sometimes to get good sounds out of a FM. And I like its look too.
It is donationware which is a economic model that I really thinks work in case like this. It is like buying your buddy a six pack after he helps you move. Part with a few bucks is a good long term move because it will encourage developers to keep sharing good stuff with us.

EFM have a ton off free plugins. Some which are modeled and styled after guitar pedals. Have not had the chance to try them out yet but pedal like plugins definitely deserve a try in my book.
Buzzroom has the Buzcomp Free Series which is 4 free compressor that you might like to give a try.
I also found this cool article on the sound design of the first Star Wars trilogy. It is interesting if you are like me and always are wondering about the Foley techniques and sound design.
Also I am trying to somehow to indicate the Mac compatibility for the plugs on my free plugin list. I do not understand somethings like the difference between Intel Macs and regular Macs or if there are bad ports the work well in Windows but don’t on Macs. Most stuff doesn’t have a lot of info. I would also like to know if there is any great Mac only plugins. Any suggestions drop me a line.
Note: I want to do this even after all those commercials basically calling me an uptight socially retarded humorless dork.

Majken.se has four great free vst plugins. They all are really great. Pan-Oh!-Rama is my favorite. It can create some real sonic mayhem if you wish to. So, many good things come from Sweden.
