Hobnox has this flash based audiotool as they called it. Amazing what they can do with flash now or online apps period for that matter. It is basically simulations of 2 303’s & 1 909 clones, a line mixer and some guitar effects pedals. You can route things anyway you wish which makes it fun as hell. You could make a whole album with setup people have done it. There is currently no way to save or export but I am interested in what will happen with this and other things like it in the near future.
For now it is great fun to screw around with at work. I think iIam annoying the piss out of a co-worker but hey it is my break/lunch/need some time to keep from going crazy time by running drums through never ending delays and crazy acidy baseline time.
There is a lot of cynicalness swirling around music now. My last post had a lot of them. There is a lot more. It good just to see kids have fun rocking out. Especially since most kids their age are a million times more likely to play guitar hero than a real instrument.3 kids rocking out with a great song. Perfect.
Miniorgan is a great library of “rare and vintage musical electronic toys.” I remember some of them from childhood. I had a Casio though I none of the ones I have seen is exactly the way I remember it but that was a long time ago. I remember some of the others but did not own them. Maybe the spoiled kid(he had everything including: 2 Millenium Falconsseriously 2, the Die Cast Voltron, every Damn Transformer, etc.) up the block had ‘em. It is all such a haze now. I wish that spoiled rich kid had the sound fx machine pictured above. Looks fun.
It is not just nostalgia that makes these musical toys great. Some of the designs are absolutely stellar. Judging from the sound clips some would be unbelievably fun to play with and make music with especially the Grandstand Major Minor.
Getlofi and CDM have come up with the Circuit Bending challenge. It a cool idea and I am going to participate. Setting a date and knowing other are doing as well will help me get off my butt and bend something. Soon like a good way to spend a Sunday.
If you have not checked out the Wayback Machine you should. It can take you back to earlier days of the Internet. It’s The Internet Archive’s version of the Library of Congress. A giant cache of of web pages from the past. Man, web designers tastes have improved along with the functionality and usefulness. Here is a collection of some famous sites and since this is a music related blog some pertaining to music to give you a blast from the past. You can click on pics to embiggen them.

Cool you can look up items in a catalog then type all the numbers in a text form and your order will arrive!
Not really faster than using the phone but they got better. If you explore the archive of the old site they did have a primative catalog but the search function was very basic. Need exact matches could not manage singular or puralsprobelm. Rember those days. Now you only have to spell realitive close to find what you want.

That typical early website look. Use what ever colors and stick a weak logo somewhere. The look of there site and DAW have improved greatly.

#46 is a snapshot of the Internet quirkiness. AYBBTU is still not dead just mutated weirder and it’s Birthday is kind of celebrated. Ms. Spears was probably as high this week as then. It still hot chicks, piracy and tragedies of the moment dominating search so maybe things haven’t changed that much they just look prettier.
