I found this on the very cool Retro Thing. When I heard about Radiohead’s remix contest for Nude I was excited. Then when I heard the track my enthusiasm waned a bit. Radiohead were having some fun with the song they selected. If Radiohead was a Shakespearean character the their fatal flaw [...] I need to check the culture section more often because the is usually good stuff. Live and Let DIY is such. It has my idea of culture remixing.
I found this both at GetLofi & Rekkerd. Gameboys are normally used for the eight bit funkiness. the kBANG Gameboy is more of a drum machine. It controls solenoids that are used to bang on stuff. I wrote about Foals remix thingy yesterday. Radiohead also has a remix thingy going. [...] LastFM is great way to listen and find new music. It is also a cool way to track what you are listening and it can be sometimes surprising to see your listening habits. From the Intelligent Machinery site: Pieces Vol. 2 is the second effort in a project designed to stretch the borders of incidental sound composition. The project invites participants to create new tracks using the provided set of four-second sound samples culled from various live performances. Sounds like some fun. There is some addition comment on the ccMixterblog. Digital-Redux is a relatively new company selling royalty free samples via DVD. They currently have 5 genre specific DVD’s. My general feeling and experience with sample collections is that you are not going to love all the sounds. I think that is to much to ask for.
